The Maicoletta was built by Maico from 1955 to 1966, and noted by motorcycle enthusiasts for being powerful and comfortable. It was one of the heaviest and most expensive scooters with typical styling of its time. The engine was a single cylinder fan-cooled 2 stroke with options of 174cc, 247cc and 277cc cylinder bores. It also had an electric starter which was unusual for it's time.
